Active Learning Study Group - January 2017
1/26/2017 Penrickton Center for the Blind, Perkins School for the Blind and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired host this series of webinars on Active Learning, an instructional approach developed by Dr. Lilli Nielsen. In this series of webinars we will share ideas for moving from assessment to IEP development to delivering instruction. Attention will be given to organizing the student’s day and delivering both general curriculum and expanded core curriculum content using an Active Learning approach.

Learning Media Assessment & Assistive Technology Assessments for Students with MIVI: Overview
09/19/2016 Assessment of students with multiple impairments in the areas of learning media and assistive technology can be problematic. Typical approaches may not afford information that is useful in designing effective learning strategies. In this webinar series, we will review existing instruments that are designed for the child with visual and multiple impairments. Included is information about the design of each instrument, the skill areas it considers and a step-by-step explanation of the assessment process it employs. Assessment tools that will be reviewed may include: Sensory Learning Kit, Functional Schemes, Every Move Counts, Communication Matrix, Infused Skills / Basic Skills Assessment, Robbie Blaha's Calendar Assessment, and Philip Schweigert's Tangible Symbols assessment. SLK Study Group - September 2015
09/28/2015 SLK Study Group is a forum for education staff to learn and discuss how to use the Sensory Learning Kit to assess and develop instructional routines for students with visual and multiple impairments. The study group is hosted by Scott Baltisberger and Sara Kitchen, TVIs and Educational Consultants for Outreach at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
