Thanks! >> Sharisse Roberts to Everyone : Thank you for sharing this with us. Such sadness and trauma! I am so sorry that tribal members and their families have had to go through this and still continue to go through this today. >> Olivia Souaid to Everyone : That was powerful, Carla. Thank you for sharing that insider perspective. So important to be respectful indeed. >> Nancy Quisenberry to Panelists : I so appreciate your sharing - I grew up in a Native American family and have seen for myself some of the consequences that you discussed. Thank you for sharing your story and experience. >> Carla Gregory to Panelists : I got nervous and forgot to include in my introduction that my village is about 40 miles west of Albuquerque. I-40 runs smack dab through our tribal lands >> Megan Mogan to Everyone : Yes. Thank you Carla for connecting the dots between the ways that policy has been used historically to impact (and extinguish) Native communities. This is profound. >> Paula Pittman to Panelists : Thank you for sharing such a difficult history with us, Carla. So important for us all to understand. >> Kate Borg to Everyone : Many of us don't have any context for understanding historical trauma. Thank you for sharing this. What have your challenges been as it relates to that? >> Aaron Waheed to Everyone : Thank you for your time to share your experiences. May Wakan Tanka be with you. >> KAREN BORG to Everyone : WOW! That is one of the BEST stories for using household materials and NOT bringing in a bag of foreign objects. Thank you all for sharing. I am learning so much! >> Julia Hecht to Everyone : thank you so much for sharing your stories and experiences. Are there any taboos about infants being on video camera - such as is used for telehealth during COVID? or for audiology over video (teleaudiology)? >> Emily Coleman to Everyone : It can be hard to share experiences that weren’t positive, but it’s so helpful as all of us have room to improve and grow. Thank you! >> Quilley Chiqueval to Everyone : This information is vitally important when we plan our lessons, art activities, and all encounters with our sisters and brothers; therefore, buildingn a healthy rapport with families will help learning activities flow easily for the betterment of the students/children. Simple respect for customs, traditions, and beliefs. Cultural competency matters because without family engagement we can hinder the children’s/students’ psychological and physiological growth. This panel’s shared experience is PRICELESS. >> Amanda Lambright to Everyone : I just learned about snakes and owls this year after a zoom session with a student. I felt terrible about exposing this child to these pictures. I appreciate learning about these things. I appreciate you sharing these with us. >> Christie Hauwiller to Everyone : Thank you for sharing your journeys. Truthfully, this has been one of the most amazing webinar/presentation I have attended. As a Deaf professional working with EI families with D/HH children (0-3) and mom myself, I have so much respect for you all because you look at the best interest for your children. Unlike many hearing non-Native parents I know, they resist ASL or sign language and concentrate on spoken language/hearing aids/cochlear implants instead. There is so much concentration on fixing them rather than ensuring they receive language acquisition or access. I wish they would be more like you all! Thank you so much again for sharing all this today!! >> Quilley Chiqueval to Everyone : @Kate Borg, please tell me this session is being recorded to share w/teams. >> Kate Borg to Everyone : It sure is! It will be available in a few days at tsbvi.edu/coffeehour >> Quilley Chiqueval to Everyone : We need this panel for a Part II.
