TEACHER: Alright, a few problems to show off and then we're going to stop for today, okay? Alright, when you multiply, it's a short-cut way of doing what?

TEACHER: Okay, the answer-- oh let‘s go back; we haven't talked about this in awhile. The answer when you multiply is called the what? 

ALI: product 

TEACHER: Oh, I‘m impressed. Okay, what is the multiplication sign in Braille? 

ALI: dot 4, 1-6 

TEACHER: And what‘s the other one? The Albright one, when you get to middle school you'll see it more. 

ALI: 1-6 

TEACHER: 1-6, okay, when you multiply you get the same number or a what? 

ALI: bigger number 

TEACHER: until you get to higher math, same number or a bigger number. Alright, are you ready? I‘m going to give you some really hard ones, well, I'll start off with an easy one, and then we're going to go hard, okay? 0 x 5, that's real easy. 

ALI: 0 

TEACHER: 3 X 6 

ALI: 18 

TEACHER: Okay, how did you figure that out? You did what? You... 

ALI: counted 

TEACHER: not counted regularly, you... 

ALI: skip counted 

TEACHER: You skip counted. 

ALI: 6 times 

TEACHER: 3 x 6 is 18, what is the addition problem hiding in that multiplication problem? 

ALI: 3+3+3+3+3+3 

TEACHER: Isn't it a lot easier just to multiply? 

ALI: yep, or you could do 6, 3 times 

TEACHER: or you could do 6..., good, give me 5! Okay, two more hard ones and then we're done for the day, okay? 8x7 

ALI: 56 

TEACHER: Oh, very good and the finale, are you ready? And this one I want you to write down. I'm going to flip your paper and we'll just write it real quick because I want you to practice that multiplication sign. Okay, I'm going to have you write it as I say it, okay? 

TEACHER: Just write it right there because we're going to finish. 9 x 7 

ALI: [sound of Braillewriter] 9 x 7 equals, I gotta think about this. 

TEACHER: Gotta think about it. Think out loud, let's hear your thoughts. 

ALI: 63 

TEACHER: Oh, good. How'd you get that? We didn't hear you thinking? 

ALI: 9 X 9 is 81 

TEACHER: Okay 

ALI: So I subtracted 9 from there, 72, then I subtracted from there, 63 

TEACHER: Oh, wow, so you're thinking up here, but we can't always hear what you're thinking. That's where I'm letting you be chatty Barbie, okay. Alright, well thanks, AI.
