Some states have gone all UEB. It varies state by state. 15:08:01 From Cheryl Schulik : Cheryl Schulik, Region 7 ESC 15:08:17 From Mandi Ausman : was with a student and arrived late - hi all … Im listening from Las Vegas 15:08:49 From Kaycee Bennett : Welcome, Mandi! The handout for today is available at https://tsbvi.live/coffeehour 15:18:56 From Valery Kircher to Panelists : OK yes I have heard that I guess my concern is if you live in a state that adopts the entire UEB code and a child moves to a state that uses Nemeth, say in high school how should this be dealt with? Should a student from the get go learn both Nemeth and UEB regardless of what the state has adopted?? 15:19:22 From Kaycee Bennett to Valery Kircher, All Panelists : Make sure you use "all panelists and attendees" so everyone can see your question. 15:21:03 From Valery Kircher : OK yes I have heard that I guess my concern is if you live in a state where they have adopted UEB as the braille code and the child moves in high school to a state where Nemeth is used/or vice versa shouldn’t we as TVI’s teach both codes??? 15:24:33 From Pam Dalton : LOVE the APH Nemeth Tutorial! I refer to it DAILY! 15:24:35 From CYNTHIA CARTER : Grade Level Chart Reading Evaluation....Is that in the Nemeth at a Glance book. 15:25:35 From Kate Borg : Valery: Another good question. I taught at the University of Utah and told my pre teachers (who learned both codes) that it should be an IEP team decision as to which code. Students need to learn the math, and many won't have time and/or capacity to learn multiple codes. As they get older, it may be appropriate to introduce the other code. I know that's not a definitive answer, but a student with a specific code in their IEP should have access, regardless of where they move. 15:26:45 From Kaycee Bennett to CYNTHIA CARTER, All Panelists : Yes it is 15:28:13 From Brittany Smith to Panelists : 1+3 = 4 15:28:13 From Kristi Portugue : 1 + 3 = 4 15:28:17 From Pam Dalton : 1+3=4 15:28:19 From Faith Yeung to Panelists : 1+3 = 4 15:28:25 From Margaret Howell : 1+3 = 4 15:28:26 From Jill Cribbs : 1+3=4 15:28:26 From Tracy Schweinle : 1+3+4 15:28:27 From Emilie McConnell : 1+3 = 4 15:28:27 From Sumer Bellinder : 1+3=4 15:28:27 From Tiffany Ashenbrener-Cook to Panelists : 1+3=4 15:28:27 From Sabrina McAdoo : 1 + 3 = 4 15:28:31 From Valery Kircher : 1+3 = 4 15:28:33 From Michelle Faircloth : 1+3=4 15:28:34 From CYNTHIA CARTER : 1+ 3 = 4 15:28:35 From Shannon Spettel : 1+3=4 15:28:35 From Michael Ochoa to Panelists : 1+3 + 4 15:28:36 From Linda Brown henning : 1+3=4 15:28:36 From Rosanna Bedoya : 1 + 3 = 4 15:28:37 From Mandi Ausman : 1+3 = 4 15:28:44 From Cherie Ackerman to Panelists : 1+3=4 15:28:50 From Jessica Belcher to Panelists : 1+3=4 15:28:58 From Maria Salazar to Panelists : 1+3=4 15:29:12 From MarLisa Jacobs to Panelists : 1+3=4 15:36:28 From TSBVI Outreach Media : Handouts for todays presentation can be found at https://tsbvi.live/coffeehour 15:46:55 From Michael Ochoa : Why does it have eight dots 15:50:37 From Diana Jeong to Panelists : why do you use the number indicator and the dropped 1 at the same time? 15:50:38 From Michael Ochoa to Panelists : Thank you 15:53:05 From Pam Dalton : If Texas leaves Nemeth.....I'm retiring! 15:53:36 From Kristi Portugue : Any more manipulative ideas for this age range? 15:54:28 From Kate Borg : There are definitely pros and cons to each. Can I incorporate things in the first grade curriculum from Pearson? 15:56:16 From Kate Borg : Hi Dorothy!
