Project Math Access DVD 03 - Algebra - Part 11 Transcript Start Audio Description: Part eleven; solving equations using graphing; example five. TEACHER: Go down to... fourteen. BRANDON: Fourteen. X equals 5. TEACHER: Right. How do we do that? BRANDON: So that means we have 5 as the X coordinate. So that means we go on the X axis... starting from the origin, always we go to the right 5, BRANDON: and plot a point. TEACHER: Good. TEACHER: And how do you draw your line? BRANDON: It's a horizontal line.... TEACHER: Is it? BRANDON: No, wait. It's a vertical line. TEACHER: Okay. TEACHER: So do you want the Wikki Stix with the one end at the point? Or do you want it kinda in the middle, the point in the middle? BRANDON: I think we want it... TEACHER: No. TEACHER: In the middle. BRANDON: Yeah, okay. BRANDON: I was kind of questioning that, too. TEACHER: Just makes it easier. Then you can spread it out. Alright, how do you line it up? Audio Description: Brandon stretches the Wikki Stix vertically. TEACHER: You shouldn't need a pencil or anything. This should be really, really easy... to graph. Let's see. BRANDON: Pretty good. TEACHER: Alright, how did you do that? BRANDON: l... uh... l... moved it until it was straight. TEACHER: You laid it across the raised line that was already there. Use your guidelines. That's why you have them. BRANDON: Yeah. TEACHER: Good job.
