Project Math Access DVD 05 - Geometry - Part 05 Transcript Start Audio Description: Part five; using a braille protractor; example two. TEACHER: Okay, let’s do one more. Do angle 3. Audio Description: John searches for angle three on the tactile graph paper. JOHN: Angle 3 is right here. TEACHER: Make sure to check what kind of angle it is. JOHN: This does open to the right. It looks like it's probably... well, I don’t know. I know it's definitely not an obtuse angle like the last one was. Audio Description: John puts the protractor on the graph. JOHN: Okay, I’m going to start measuring, let’s see.... I’m going to put the screw right at angle 3 Audio Description: John searches for the point of angle 3. JOHN: and here's where it's tough, again, I say. I don’t know if l should put it here, Audio Description: John is searching for where to put the protractor. JOHN: yeah, I’m going to try there. I’m going to try to get it as close to there as possible. And I know it opens up to the right, Audio Description: John is searching for where the line extends past the protractor. JOHN: so I want to... Well in this case, the protractor is covering up the entire other line. TEACHER: Okay, exactly. So something that you can do so that the line would be long enough for you to be... able to feel it past the protractor, is to put a Wikki Stix on the glue line to extend... the line so that you now have a way to measure the line, since it extends. Audio Description: The teacher and John extend the line with a Wikki Stix. JOHN: Okay, that's better. I can already tell, again I have the screw pretty much on the line. I've just got to straighten this out here, which it should be pretty good. Audio Description: John lines up the protractor to the base of the correct line. JOHN: Let's see here, this opens up to the right. It's going to be a much smaller angle. Audio Description: John turns the dial to correspond to the angle created the by glue line and the Wikki Stix. JOHN: Let's see it's closer to here... here to here. Okay, so I'm going to start from the numbers on the right. Audio Description: John reads the angle from the protractor. JOHN: 10, 20, 30,40, 50,... looks like it might be just a little bit more than 60 degrees. TEACHER: Great job. JOHN: Maybe like 63 or something because it's right in between the 60 and 65. TEACHER: Good job.
