ALI: 40 cents TEACHER: Oh, you didn‘t even have to count up. How'd you figure that out so fast? ALI: Well, I was figuring it out while you were... TEACHER: While I was talking too much! Is that what you did? ([aughter] Okay, 40 cents, but you almost got it, chatty Barbie. You forgot to subtract that secret 1. ALI: 39 TEACHER: Oh, thank you. Don‘t forget that secret 1 up here. So, how much change are you going to get back? ALI: 39 TEACHER: Tell me one way to make 39 cents. ALI: 39 pennies TEACHER: Oh, I don't want pennies though. Tell me another way. ALI: 2 dimes, a nickel, another nickel and 4 pennies TEACHER: Say that again, 2 dimes... ALI: 2 dimes... TEACHER: 20 ALI: 2 nickels... TEACHER: Which is 30. ALI: and... another nickel TEACHER: 35 and... ALI: 4 pennies TEACHER: Okay, now you‘ve got 39.
